this is exactly what happened to us, i just took him off it, it made it so so much worse, my friend had the same problem with it too, id just take her off it, have you tried the gaviscon sachets they can give you? when i saw the paediatrician they said they couldn’t stop the vomiting but they could make him more comfortable because obviously reflux is uncomfortable for them, he stayed on gaviscon for a while but he stopped vomiting when i weaned him

Omeprazole doesn’t actually stop the vomiting as it’s not a thickener. It only eases the discomfort of the reflux. I’d ask to try gaviscon as that helps with the reflux by making the milk a bit thicker and helps with the discomfort of the sickness.

It could also be a milk allergy I don’t know if you’ve explored that options or if there’s any other symptoms x

My daughters been on omeprazole since she was 9 weeks old from really bad reflux. She has gaviscon sachets too, babies are allowed up to 6 a day. The omeprazole has stopped her pain as she’d be screaming for hours on end non stop, 3 times we had to have ambulance and go into hospital as she has CMPA too. The omeprazole won’t stop the throwing up but it’ll stop the pain like acid reflux. The gaviscon does help a lot but it can make them constipated if they’re having too much. It did take a few weeks/a month to kick in and to stop being as sicky. She’s on Nutramigen 2 now she’s almost 7 months old, and is completely dairy free. The dietician and paediatrician said that now she’s being weaned the food helps keep the milk down as it’s thicker, and said to give milk 45-hour after she’s had her food to keep it down. I’d maybe suggest going back to GP to talk about the spots etc and try get some gaviscon. Maybe the dosage needs to be higher for omeprazole x

The prescription CMPA milk can take some getting used to as it is definitely thinner than anti reflux as there’s no thickener in it and it tastes different to the anti reflux milk and other standard formulas. It took my baby a good few weeks to get used to, I had to persevere:(. But yeah the omeprazole doesn’t stop babies spitting up/vomitting, my daughter still does now at 7 months but it’s reduced from what it was as it was the whole bottle practically and her screaming in pain 24/7. It usually improves as the stomach valve matures and they start to sit up more unassisted. The omeprazole is to reduce the stomach acid so it can be less painful and distressing for them. The vomiting is usually gone by 1 year once they are sitting up, crawling and eating solids. Most babies spit up at 3-6 months but some a lot more then others and can be painful. My baby had the Nutramigen prescribed to her coz of the reflux and spots/eczema then mucus like poo xx
