Elective C-section,

I have my elective next Tuesday so I’ve joined this group & another and all I keep seeing is posts about holes in scars or leaking months down the line. It’s making me so nervous 😟

After your C-section did your scar…

I have tried both induced normal delivery and scheduled c section due to a fibroid blocking the birth canal .. i wouldnt do a c section
6 months postpartum it still hurts i am thankful its their as a life saving option but normal birth pain ended waaay faster.. with c section no its a life time thing .. each one experience is definitely different but i wouldnt recommend ever for anyone unless its absolutely necessary

I had a pico dressing for the first 10 days and it was a godsend for healing, see if that is something your hospital offers. It’s a negative pressure dressing, so you get this fun little device that you can tape to your leg or hang off your trousers and it keeps it clean and dry. I did end up having antibiotics but that was a precaution, as one tiny section of mine was a little inflamed. As commented above, clean and dry. I mistakenly thought if I let some air to it that’s better but no, keep it covered until fully healed (especially if you end up with a little overhang like me) 💗💗

Ive had 3 c sections. First was fine. Second got infected but was fine. Third leaked and got infected and took 18 weeks for a little hole to heal so it just depends

Followed the guidelines to a T and healed perfectly, no issues. Didn’t lift anything heavier than baby for the full 6 weeks. Which meant we didn’t go out much once her dad went back to work as couldn’t lift the car seat or pram (we have lots of steps outside our house). But worth it now as am 9 weeks PP and fully healed.

Healed no issues! 💯💯💯 Remember the majority of people who don't need support don't post, so it can feel like there's loads but only people that post about issues have them so is just a lot more. It's just perception.

Healed no issues, don’t worry, people won’t do a post if they recover well so you will only see the bad. Just look after the wound don’t over do it and keep it dry. If you are worried whilst in hospital tell them you’re anxious and to check for you on each check in x

Also, please do not let anyone scare you about this! Everybody is different and heals at their own pace! I went shopping the day after I got out of the hospital (1 week) and I even went on a cheeky night out clubbing dancing like a mad woman (3 weeks). The first 3/4 days is hard not because it hurts but because you are relearning how to move in the least uncomfortable way. Sleeping is hard because your position is restricted but honestly that’s the first 3/4 days after that you get used to it. Since 2 weeks I’ve been able to do everything like normal, I even stopped my painkillers after 5 days. This isn’t to “brag” it’s too prove that it’s not hard or prolonged for everyone. I’m living proof that it can be easier for some. Don’t worry yourself and take your own time! (Mine was an emergency if that helps)
