Conjunctivitis eye drops swelling

Has anyone little one used chloramphenicol eye drops for conjunctivitis? I used them on my 15 month old and he got swelling in his eyes after the second use. This photo was last night. I have stopped using them today but has anyone has use them before and is this a normal reaction? My doctor says to continue you them but my son is very reactive to products anyways. Just wanted advice from anyone who has experience something similar?

My LO had conjunctivitis and a few days later he had cellulitis around his eye which caused it to swell. I can’t see from the pictures whether the swelling looks similar but might just be worth double checking it isn’t that.
