4 year age gap 🐣

I’ve just found out again after 18th months of trying. I’m due on my daughter’s 4th Birthday - 22nd December. So excited for my little girl to be a big sister but don’t know when to tell her? Anyone got any thoughts on when’s best?

I'm due my second in September and my son found out pretty much straight away as he kept asking why I was sick. He's been to 2 private scans with us and he found out first he's having a little brother then told us 😊 It was hard telling him so early as it also took us nearly 18 months and 3 losses to get here but he kept thinking he would catch my sickness. It's lovely that he can be so involved and excited at this age x

Expecting our second in June. We told our daughter after the 12 week scan which was just before she turned 3. Didn’t want to tell her earlier as we’d had an early loss earlier in the year. She’s been so excited! She told everyone at nursery the next day 😂

Aww congrats â˜ș
We decided to wait until 20 week scan, as I read that if you do it sooner it’s such a long time to wait for them. I also didn’t want to explain if there was a loss to a 2 year old as we had a very rocky pregnancy. But I know everyone will have their own opinions around that. But I was so unwell when I was pregnant now she’s a little older, I would probably tell her sooner why I was being sick all day. You’ll know what’s right for your family and child.

We read her the book ‘there’s a house inside my mummy’ and showed her the scan. She wasn’t really bothered at first but as the time went on and my bump got bigger. She started talking to the baby and got really excited.

We’re 5 months into 2 and it’s so lovely watching their bond! You do love another as much

Thanks so much girls! It’s so hard as we are so excited and just want to tell her but just don’t want to put her through any unnecessary upset as she’s a very emotionally aware child.

I’ll have a look into that book suggestion, thankyou!

And omg I honestly can’t wait to see their bond, I know she’s going to be the best big sister đŸ„č

We told our two when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and had been for a private scan. They both kept climbing about on me and I had to keep saying careful of my tummy. My daughter (3) says every day there’s a baby in your tummy, and is excited. My son (almost 2) doesn’t understand but occasionally points to my stomach and says baby

I think it’s just personal preference. If I was to fall pregnant now, I wouldn’t tell my daughter until I was happy for others to know because she’s a typical child and tells everyone everything 😅 I fell pregnant with my son when she was 17 months and we told her right away. She spoke really well then but the full understanding wasn’t there at that point x

We told our 3 year old early because I have had hyperemisis, so wasn’t able to leave the house and take her to nursery so we knew there was no one she could tell. As soon as she did go back to nursery of course she told everyone “mummy was sick because there are 2 babies in her belly”.
