AITA? Birthday edition

So for my partner’s birthday, I had a surprise planned, but it had to be canceled, so I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday. His first suggestion was for us to go skiing and leave the kids with his parents. This man has never been skiing. I have never been skiing. He has never shown an interest, until now apparently. He went snowboarding one time as a teen with his friends and has permanent leg muscle damage. So I honestly didn’t take him seriously about skiing. Plus I wont leave the kids with his parents, he knows this. I asked if he had any other ideas. I gave a ton of suggestions. His mom gave suggestions. He’s been moping and pouting. Nope he’s pissed off at me because I said no to skiing. I told him he’s more than welcome to go alone or with his friends. We couldn’t even afford to go skiing together anyways, it would require an actual loan or borrowing from his mom which he knows I dont want to do either. We have a place booked for the weekend but hes not happy about it.
