So tomorrow I’m seeing my MIL and FIL for the first time in 3 years. It’s a long story but I’ll try and make it short. When I was pregnant she was fine until I hit my third trimester,I’ll just list things she did:
- when I was emotional and scared one day about raising my child alone as my fiance is in the army and we didn’t live together at the time she told me I asked for this life and I have to get on with it. (All I needed to be told was I got this or some encouragement but nope)
- we sent a text to ALL family members on both sides (apart from my mum as she was coming to this hospital) saying we won’t be having visitors for the first week. She replied to my fiance with a voice note screaming she will be there for the birth wether I liked it or not and my partner needs to grow a pair and tell me what’s going to happen as she needs to kiss and hug her grand baby after she’s born🙃
- got irritated when we all went out for food and came home at 10pm and wanted to go to bed (they were staying in a hotel) and she said why don’t we want her company anymore, at the meal she also kept bringing up my finances ex even after FIL and my fiance told her to shut up she kept going.
- we all got Covid when my eldest was 4 weeks old and she was due to come up with her daughters. I told her we all had Covid and all she said was “the girls are going to be so disappointed, when can we come then” as an anxious first time mum I was like wtf?!.
Anyway we now have 2 daughters 3 and 18 months, she’s never met our youngest, we were no contact for 2 years and this year we’ve started texting, she’s apologised and respected our boundaries which is why I’ve said I’m open for them coming up but I’m just so anxious 😞 I’ve definitely grown and will stand up for myself now but I just hope she’s changed and it’s not all talk! Just needed to rant so thank you if you’ve made it this far 💕

I’m sorry she’s done all this 😩. Doesn’t make it easy.. and doesn’t put you and your husband in a good position. BUT you got this, girlfriend 🙌 remember you can step away for a minute anytime you need to breathe. Take an extra few minutes in the bathroom lol. I’m proud of you for trying for your family. My MIL is hard to deal with too, I feel your pain ❤️

Thank you 😅 trying and picking my battles these days lol!
Omg I’m so happy to hear it all went well!!! 🥹 I’m sure you feel so so relieved. And hopefully less anxiety for the next visit ❤️
