Husband x partner

Please really need your honest opinion about this. So I’m a teacher and work from home online. I’m back home atm so my husband and I are doing long distance as he’s in the Uk.
I jokingly recorded part of my lesson where I was saying to my male student that I wanted to go to Thailand next year with my PARTNER.
And sent it to my husband as a reminder to where I want to go (we’re recebtly married and not been on a honey moon yet)

He has a massive go at me because I called him partner not husband to another man???

English is not my first language and I didn’t know it was a big deal…

I’ve seen many people calling their husbands as partner.

I’ve apologised for making him feel offended but he stopped messaging and said we’d speak in a few days.

Is it a cultural thing? Really an insult as were legally married?

I’m very upset with his behaviour but want to understand as maybe it’s a cultural thing idk

Any advice please?
