Quitting job due to no childcare.

I put my name down at a nursery in pregnancy and no longer have a space due to them having a high volume of applicants. Due to the funding, my area has no space for when I go back to work (apart from some poor settings which we aren’t willing to put our baby in). I have tried childminders too. There is 1 that can do 1 day, but 1 day a week of working seems pointless.

I won’t be able to keep my job past November if I don’t go back (maybe extended to December with annual leave). So I may have to quit my job, find my baby a nursery for a later date when they currently have availability and find another job next year!

My partner can just about support us, but we won’t be able to do nice things such as holidays.

Anyone else considering leaving work? I don’t particularly want to go back to my job anyway, as it’s a highly stressful job for low pay, I got no enhanced benefits in maternity. I also want my own money though and relying on my partner for money may create arguments.

If the 1 day is funded maybe worthwhile taking it for now as there’s lots of time until Nov/Dec so you may be able to get more days if someone else drops out. You can also always quit the nursery after you start and get your deposit back (double check their terms)- but it could be a good back up option. You can also reduce your hours at work too so you have added funds coming in. Completely up to you, take your time in deciding x
