My 5 week old is breastfed about 10 times a day for around half an hour each feed. Usually he poops after every feed, sometimes more, however, since yesterday morning he has not pooed. Should I be worried? He seems like he needs to go but is in discomfort. I’ve tried bicycles, a warm bath, rubbing his tummy etc to try and help but doesn’t seem to help him. Should I contact his gp? Please give advise as he seems in so much discomfort! Thanks!

It's not uncommon for breastfed babies to go for a while without doing a poo. I remember specifically my daughter just stopped after doing 2-3 a day. She must have been 5 weeks old too cos I asked the doctor at her 6 week checkup if that was ok and she said it's normal.
If they still haven't done a poo and your baby seems in pain though it's definitely not going to do any harm to seek extra advice - all babies are different after all!

Hi girl
My doctor said it’s totally normal for breastfed babies to skip a day or two of pooping. As long as he's having at least six heavy wet diapers within 24 hours, he’s likely doing just fine. Personally my son has gone a full day without pooping too, so try not to worry! ❤️

My girl really stuggled for the first week week with only pooing every few days and she was in obvious discomfort. Have a look a baby osteopath videos they will explain how to move the hips and body and poo pressure points that I found most effective over bicycle legs and standard belly rubs.
