I have a pretty high pain tolerance too. It’s the worst pain I’ve ever felt. There is nothing to describe it accurately. Some people say it’s like really bad period cramps but I don’t think that really portrays the most accurate picture. The best I can describe it is imagine someone grabbing all of your reproductive organs and squeezing as hard as possible, then twisting them like a wet towel as hard as possible. And that happening over and over with some short breaks in between.

Also, they start pretty mild but then you’ll know when they get real serious. I thought I was having cramps until I wasn’t.

I chuckled when I read this a bit . I have high pain tolerance or at least I thought I did 😂 I haven’t felt anything like that . It takes over your body and mind ( at least for me ) if your concern is that you won’t know- you will know 😊 and truly is worth it. Good luck mama !

I hate to say it but when they happen, you'll know. At the beginning, it felt like a muscle spasm or like when I got my first iud. Once they really hit, it felt like my hips were trying to come apart! My husband had to press inward with all his might to help relieve the pain. I got an epidural before the pain got to be intolerable but it sucked.
And if I can throw some advice in here, try exhaling longer than you inhale to help your body feel less panicked, moan as low in your voice as you can, and try to let your body go limp. Or you can clench your fists. Those things helped me focus on something other than the pain.

I’m in agreement with everyone else. I have a high pain tolerance, multiple tattoos and piercings with other painful health issues. Contractions are a different beast. I caved, didn’t even think twice about pain management.

It's amazing to hear everyone sorry. I have a high pain tolerance as well. I can say that it was noy the worst pain. For me it wasn't really painful. It was more uncomfortable. I had the decision to get the balloon 🎈 that was awful!! It was extreme pressure. Really breathe through your contractions and ride the wave don't fight it ... it's not as bad as you think. But listen to your mbody

For me it felt like a muscle cramp in my entire abdomen when it started. I had back labor so my back cramped too and I spent a lot of time using my hands to fix my posture. I took a bath before going to the hospital to help me with some of the pain and to focus on breathing techniques since it calms me.
