FTM and i’m so anxious about the glucose test

Could really use some support or reassurance from people. i’m a very anxious person and i’ve been experiencing high anxiety for a lot of my pregnancy.
what was the glucose test like for you? do you have any suggestion that might make it easier for me?
i’m scared it will make me puke (haven’t puked at all through my whole pregnancy, some first trimester nausea but nothing since 14 weeks)
please be kind and don’t tell me worst case scenarios because that will make me spiral. i’m already aware of the worst possible outcomes anyways (thanks anxiety)

I also hyped myself up but it was honestly absolutely fine! I paced myself with the glucose drink instead of downing it like you see on social media, had a good meal the night before, drank lots of water during, had a good book to pass the time and healthy snacks for after (banana, oat bars etc). I was in the room with 5 other women doing the test and they also all seemed fine during and after ☺️

the glucose test wasn’t so bad! for me, it tasted like a very flat orange soda. it was super sweet, but nothing unmanageable! i kept myself very distracted afterwards while waiting the hour in the waiting room. i sat on my phone, talked with my partner, and i even brought my nintendo switch to keep my mind busy 😅 i was also somewhat anxious while waiting for my test results to come in, but i tried to focus more on the positives in my life and keep myself distracted. you’ve got this, mama! 🫶

Hey girl! I was the same as you, so anxious about the glucose test as I have a weak stomach and had absolutely terrible heartburn during my pregnancy. I don’t even like anything sweet like pop so yeah I was scared for it. BUT it was not bad at all for me! I didn’t get the hype as to how it was so awful. Try not to worry love I really don’t think it’s as bad as people say 🩵

Honestly don't be worried at all, I thought mine tasted of Capri Sun lol, and I liked it, maybe that says something about what a sweet tooth I have? 🫣🤣 But yeah it wasn't bad at all 🥰

Call me crazy but I actually enjoyed it. It just tastes like orange Gatorade.

Avatar

Honestly isnt that bad, you can get flavoured ones so make sure to ask if they have a flavor if not its not the end of the world, mine wasnt flavoured i just downed it, make sure to take a good book!
The worst part is waiting to go eat tbf 😆

I did what I saw my favorite OB/gyn influencer recommend: channel your inner party girl and chug. It’s really not that bad, and I think a lot of people blow it out of proportion. Just bring something to do to pass the time.

Snap to the others it a nothing type event, do some bloods, drink a slightly large capri sun, sit and chill for a few hours, do more bloods and go home 😁 nothing eventful or interesting happened at mine... I felt a little buzzing off all the sugar for 10 mins or so but I'm someone who cant have a can of sugary coke without feeling high!

As soon as I got to the hospital I was told to drink as much water as I wanted before the test so topped my self back up. You got this ❤️

It didnt make me feel sick made me feel sleepy. I had a lovely hours nap. Then spent 2 hours watching something as I had my head phones.

I used emla cream to numb my arms as I dont do needles which was the worst bit for me

I have had 4 of them across 2 pregnancies and all have been fine. I've also never seen another woman have any issues with it either while I've been there. The drink is actually pretty small and doesn't take long to drink and the taste is okay. Take something you enjoy doing for the wait and enjoy the break. Drink lots of water and have something nice to eat planned for afterwards. You've got this!

I had to have 3 last pregnancy as I didn’t develop it until very late on. I’m having my second with this pregnancy in a few weeks. I loved the drink! It really wasn’t bad at all for me. The only boring bit is waiting around for 2 hours for the second blood test

Avatar

I never had it - they just took a few viles of blood.

Avatar

Had it done with my 1st and tbh it isn't that bad. The worst part is the waiting about. The drink they gave me tasted like Capri Sun.

Avatar

To avoid falsely failing, make sure to fast. You can still eat certain things the day of your test, but I would look it up and avoid any foods that could spike your sugar levels the same day as your test

Avatar

The drink is a bit gross, but you’ve got to drink it within 5 minutes so it’s only a short inconvenience. My biggest bit of advice is try to sit somewhere cool as the building we were in was boiling and it made me feel sick! Good luck, it’s really not that bad in the grand scheme of things x

Avatar

I had to do it twice in m y last pregnancy. It was fine. The worst part was that I had saved a M&S cookie at home to treat myself afterwards and my husband had eaten it while I was out and I had a meltdown haha. I was mostly just bored during the waiting around bit. Nobody seemed to have a bad time either days that I was being tested x

Avatar

It was pretty easy, you have like 5 mins to drink it so you really don’t have to chug much, just think of it as a Gatorade 🤣🤣 it will be fine! Promise

Avatar

I have hyperemesis & it didn’t even bother me! Just did it Friday — the drink tasted like a flat sprite. My OB office suggested eating protein before which I think helped a ton to prevent the crash after, so I just felt sleepy after but no added nausea!

I think if you’re worried it could be good to prep time to sleep/rest after just in case, but it’s really not nearly as bad as I thought it’d be!

What week was your baby born?

My second baby is due today and I’m so uncomfortable with really bad PGP. Just wanted to know what week your little ones were born in to get an idea of how long I still have to go. X

Excited but sad over going from 1-2 and last pregnancy!

I almost feel like I’m grieving. I’m 34 weeks with our very much wanted daughter after 4 losses and as you can imagine we cannot wait to meet her very soon!

However tonight I’m feeling sad and almost grieving the fact soon my son will have to share me with his sister. I’m grieving the fact it wont just be us anymore and I won’t have endless time to give him. I’m also grieving the fact this is my last pregnancy.

Any other 2nd time mums feeling this way? So excited but I’m also so so sad at the same time ❤️

Anyone else’s baby need/have tubes?

My son gets tubes on 5/5. Super nervous but so ready since he’s had 4 ear infections since February. I feel so helpless.

Throwing up in 2nd trimester?

I literally only threw up one time toward the end of my first trimester and now I will very suddenly need to vomit in the 2nd trimester, several days a week. There is almost no nausea warning ahead of time, but then I'll feel instantly better after throwing up.
I thought since I didn't experience much nausea in the 1st trimester that I was in the clear, but alas!
Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Mounjoro

Has anyone started mounjoro after having a baby? I’m nearly 3 months post c-section and just ordered my first lot. Excited to start after all the weight I’ve put on during pregnancy but worried about side effects and how they will affect my daily life while having a baby to look after.
