baby dad taking me to court
baby dad has had no involvement in my sons life and he's 8 months old. he told me to have an abortion and left me to do the pregnancy alone. Now he has the audicity to send me to court. i've not even said no to contact. I put boundaries in place to protect my son. I dont think he's intentions are genuine.
Has anyone been in the same situation? whats was the court process (UK) like and contact?

in a very very similar process but baby dad is a drug addict to top it all off ðŸ˜
1. you'll receive the court papers, need to send some paperwork back
2. they'll schedule a call with Cafcass who will collect information and send that to the court
3. then the first hearing in court. You can represent yourself or get a solicitor to speak for you.
The courts will push for the child to have a relationship with the father 'if it is safe to do so' which is very annoying.
If you believe it is unsafe then please start getting as much evidence as you can! In that case it will most likely end up in supervised visitation through contact center's - the father will have to pay for this and it can be anywhere from approx £70-£150 an hour/session.
My best advise from one mama to another is:
• Make a timeline of events from finding out you were pregnant (and him wanting you to abort -> even better if you can find text messages to support this) to present day
And if he actually shows up to sessions for a prolonged period, he pays for them, builds a good relationship with baby etc. then you know his intentions are genuine! Its almost like a trail period I guess?
Courts seem to push for 50/50 these days, so have an idea of how you would want that to work as a worst case scenario!
What he is asking for & what he might get are different things!
