How do I tell my partner I want to rehome our dog

So weve had our dog almost 3 years and he came with issues and weve tried our best with him but the past 2 months hes snapped at our daughter who is 1 next month, weve seperated them buy gates and seeing a behaviorist and she said that what we are doing is going the right way

But this morning he lunged and snapped at her and im just fed up, my baby is now basically in a cage and cant freely crawl around the house, we are meant to do training with the dog but my partner never does it, he barely takes the dog out for a walk unless I suggest it and he saod hes tired all the time which I get as he is the one who works the long hours to provide for us but why has everything got to depend on me

Its making me not enjoy being a mum has its sad to see your daughter behind a gate crying for you but your only a few steps away in the kitchen and she cant get to you 🙁 we are wanting more children aswel so how am I suppose to cope with adding a newborn into this situation

I dont enjoy having the dog anymore and its making me think about rehoming him but I know my partner will not want to do that

At the end of the day you've got to do what's right for you and your family. You are doing correct steps by seeking advice from a behaviourist and trying to nip it in the bud. Has your dog been around children/babies before prior to your little one? (Only reason I ask is some dogs are quite nervous/ reactive around small children or children in general- especially if they've never been brought up with them before.

You've got to ask yourself this- would you feel more at ease knowing the dog was going to be rehomed to a new family so you could actually be a family, knowing you did everything you could, or more at ease continuing how you are just to please your partner? As for your partner ask him how would he feel when (its not an if its a when, since the dog has already snapped and lunged) the dog attacks, or worse kills, his child?

You've both got to do what's better and safer for your family.
