My daughter will be 3 in July, she has recently developed a stutter with the sounds of C and W for example when she is saying “can” or “when”. She was quite an early talker and was making full sentences from around 18months and I would say she is basically a fluent and clear speaker up until now. It seems to be worse when she’s tired and at first I brushed it off thinking it may be developmentally normal, but I have noticed the stutter is accompanied with blinking and facial tension. When researching online it says I should only worry if it’s been over 6 months, but it’s only been a few weeks but if there is an issue there I don’t want to wait 6 months to address it. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations? Or if your child had a similar issue did they grow out of it?

I had a stutter for a part of my childhood, maybe age 6-11, and then I grew out of it. It wouldn’t hurt to try speaking with your health visitor about it now (if you’re in the UK) and see what they think.
