Labor

I’ve been in prolonged labor for the past couple of days , my contractions have become long and longer but are way too spaced out to be considered into hospital.

I am now exhausted, feeling sick and generally wiped out. Im 39 weeks. I have been taking paracetamol like advised and im still getting strong contractions.

I phoned triage and explained everything but have been told to try take a bath, rest up, take my paracetamol and wait for established labor. Has anyone been like this? I’m really struggling and feeling horrendous, I haven’t left the house in 2 days because I’m worried I’ll get a contraction when I am out.

Diabetes?

My husband has type 2 diabetes and my mom is super worried that my son might be showing signs of being diabetic. The only real sign is he is always chugging water. He has made himself sick before from the amount of water he has drank. Does anyone have any excessive water drinkers? For reference my son is 15 months old.

Is this my mucous plug?

I’m 37 weeks and four days pregnant. I have a induction date for Wednesday it hurts to walk. I feel like I’m walking on him and just got told by the doctor that most women’s water do not break and they still go into labor so now I’m worried because I feel like I don’t know the difference from Braxton Hicks to contractions, i’m a hour away from my hospital so I’m worried about not making there in time if I just wait it out

C-section Date

I received a letter yesterday with the date for my c-section on it. I’m so incredibly nervous now.

Baby will now be a May baby (if the date doesn’t get moved for emergencies).

I had an emergency c-section last time under general anaesthetic after failing to progress and baby’s heart rate dropping. This time I’ve had a bit of a nightmare pregnancy and I’m now at high risk of infection so they said induce at 37 weeks. I ended up on that induction drip last time and I want to avoid it at all costs. I’ve also been told that the induction drip slightly increases your chance of rupture after precious c-section.

I’ve still got really bad birth trauma from it all. I’m just wondering if any of you have any positive experiences of a previous planned c-section that you can share with me (I don’t like any option and really want to avoid the emergency again hence opting for a planned one).

I’ve already been through the possible things that can go wrong with the consultant and although he said low risk of these things, I just keep running them over in my head.

Won’t drink water

I literally can’t get my baby to drink water. Tried numerous different cup/ bottle styles, making it fun, showing him first.. nothing works. He either launches the bottle across the room if we offer it to him to do or just screams and cries. He isn’t being weaned off of formula until July when he reaches 12 months corrected but at the moment he’s having 3 bottles a day so it’s not a huge amount of fluid. With the warmer weather on its way (hopefully) and eating solids I’m so worried of health issues if he just isn’t drinking enough. Any tips or suggestions?

General anaesthetic c section mums?

Does anyone have any experience of getting a c section under general anaesthetic? I had mine a month ago and it was so traumatic I don't really know where to begin on processing everything that happened to me. Any help or advice or personal stories would really help! Xx

When should your first appointment be?

I am 6+1 and phoned my GP last week asking for an appointment to sort a referal for the hospital appointments, the women has booked the appointment for the 5th June which means I'll be 10+6
I know I won't be having a scan at this time due to it being a doctor's not a hospital is it normal not to be seen earlier?
