Baby swing

My baby is going to be 8 weeks this week, and I finally caved and bought a swing. I purchased the coco one from mom cozy which wasn’t cheap and I’m kind of regretting it.

I don’t think it’s a bad swing, I just think I feel guilty putting him in it. I feel like I should be holding him all the time.

I work from home now full time, and I thought it would give me a break holding him but the guilt is too strong.

When are yall using the swings? How often? Should I just return this while I still can?

Also how long can he even use this thing?? He is measuring very tall for his age.

If you want a swing that will last a long time get one you can attach to a doorway or your ceiling. No joke my 2 year old uses her every day. As a baby you can just put her in a big pillow so she's comfortable. My toddler now when she refuses to nap in her bed will nap in her swing. Or decompress at little. I would be lost without it. Bit we have also used it since she was little. My mom always says that baby's love to be rocked. So a swing is a great alternative to you carrying her all day

I use mine when he’s being very fussy and nothing is calming him down. I have a 19 month old toddler too so it’s hard managing both at times while I’m on mat leave. I just hear you’re not supposed to let them sleep in it and you have to be careful bc of their neck positioning

Or if I need to do dishes or clean the house and he’s fussing in the bassinet. Like today he was extremely fussy almost all day and I broke it up into bits put him in it few mins

try to aim for 15-30 min sessions max and try to not create the habit of baby falling asleep for all their naps on there (since it’s not good for their backs)! honestly they’re really good for when you need to place baby down so you can make breakfast or something. It should have on the manual or box the weight limit for your swing but I’d look at the model online for any additional info.

Don’t feel guilty, a lot of moms including myself have used them and there’s no shame in using a baby swing as long as you do it safely.

Formula feeding moms.

Hi, my baby is 4 weeks old today and he’s drinking 150ml which equals to 5.28 uk oz every 4 hours, he drains the bottle & starts to become unsettled around the 2 and a half / 3 hour mark and nearly chews my hand off for his dummy. I’m going to speak to my health visitor about upping his oz but every time I’ve googled it, they say that it’s far too much for his age. Anyone else had this with their little one?

Exemption Certificate

I am 4 months postpartum and I’ve only just realised that I’ve never got my exemption certificate. Has anyone else been in the same boat before and managed to get one so late on?🤦🏼‍♀️

Epidural

Ngl, I need a little pick me up, I feel very defeated tonight; my mind isnt being kind. I know I shouldnt compare but I cant help but do it but all my friends who have had babies didnt have the epidural, all they had was gas and air and now I wish I never had it, its messed my back up and I feel weak that I had it.

Can I hear some positive stories about the epidural, if there is any. My back hasnt been the same since and its really getting me down.

18 month Developmental Milestones

Hey mamas 🤍 I just wanted to see if anyone else has felt this way…

Lately I’ve been worrying a lot about my baby’s development, especially when it comes to speech/communication and social skills. He does say some words like “night night,” “up,” “uh oh,” “mama,” “dada,” and a few others (even some letters lol), but he doesn’t really use words like “more” or “please” even though I say them all the time. He does understand them though, and he follows directions like when I tell him not to do something.

We went to the park recently and he watched the older kids playing, but didn’t really interact much with the younger ones. He’s pretty independent and kind of keeps to himself, but at home he plays with us, makes good eye contact, and is affectionate. Around strangers, he usually ignores them if they call his name.

One other thing I’ve noticed is he really likes wheels and spinning toys. He’s not obsessed or anything, but he’ll play with them for maybe 10 minutes and then move on to something else. He just gets excited anytime he notices a wheel somewhere 🛞

I know every baby develops differently, but I can’t help feeling anxious. I took the M-CHAT-R online and it came back “medium risk,” which made me spiral a bit 😕 His 18-month appointment is coming up in June, so I’ll definitely be bringing all of this up then.

Has anyone experienced/ is experiencing something similar? How did things turn out for your little one? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences 🤍
