Suggestions on travel in the first trimester

I’ve heard so many different opinions about traveling during the first trimester - some people even say you shouldn’t travel at all.

I work in a different city and usually travel there twice a month. It’s about a 2-hour train ride each way, around 5 hours total travel time. I’m not comfortable sharing my pregnancy with my manager before 12 weeks, so trying to avoid travel or make excuses is honestly stressing me out more.

So far, I haven’t had major first trimester symptoms yet (6weeks done) and I’m feeling pretty okay physically. I feel like I can manage the travel and, personally, I want to continue. But my partner feels we should be extra careful and avoid it completely.

I’m struggling with feeling like I’m being too restricted already, but at the same time I don’t want to be careless.

Would really love to hear from others — did you travel during your first trimester? How did you decide what felt safe/comfortable for you?

I have a four hour commute to work by train which I do weekly. I did it throughout my pregnancy in 2022 as well as every week in this pregnancy so far, along with conferences and international trips. Not the most fun thing to do but doable if you’re feeling okay in yourself! I have shared with my manager, which does make it easier. I’ve already done one long round trip this week, and turned down another trip tomorrow as I can’t face another one.

I also have to carry so many snacks everywhere 😅🤣

No you can travel up to 37 weeks I went on a baby moon at 4 months you should not feel restricted going out anywhere that would be the most silliest thing you can do for your mental health. Best time to travel or go anywhere near or far is at the 1st and 2nd trimester and during the 3rd trimester settle down and get ready for your baby

I’ve just flown back from a holiday in Greece at 9 weeks. I had an ivf pregnancy and they weren’t worried about me going away.
