Colchester hospital birth experiences ??

Hi all, I originally planned to deliver at Broomfield hospital (Chelmsford) however I have decided to swap to Colchester hospital. I was just wondering if anyone has any positive or negatives experiences there ? I have never been to this hospital before (apart from when I was born 22 years ago)

Hey! I had both positive and negative, they are very short staffed as is everywhere, every midwife I see was lovely and helpful. Doctors are a bit hit or miss as I stayed in for 6 days and got missed on their rounds a few times, but would recommend! Xx

I had a brilliant experience at Colchester. The two main midwives I dealt with Katie and Sophie were both amazing. We had some issues in the first week and spent 1 awful night in Broomfield, I then asked for our follow ups to be back in Colchester. We were back and forward to the children's unit and all the staff there were so lovely as well. Like most hospitals they are under staffed and overworked but couldn't fault any of the staff we dealt with at Colchester x

The midwives were brilliant. Had to have an emergency c section in the end but I was well looked after and would definitely feel confident in being under Colchester again for maternity care in the future

Uk mums!

Daughter is having general anesthetic for a 10 min procedure. Do I need to pack some pajamas, night nappy and my own snacks for it? I forgot to ask the nurse? Also do they allow hair to be up for the procedure, my girl has crazy hair 😂

Basically any recommendations!

C section pain

Tips for pain management? I’m 6 days post section and having paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours but I’m still sore and only really managing to walk to the toilet and back. They took the stitches out yesterday and it was checked and they’ve said it looks fine.

We were inpatients for quite 4 days as it was an emergency section and baby was in NICU being monitored and having IV antibiotics so have only been home 2 days.
Sorry to add I can’t have codeine/dihydrocodeine due to an allergy!

C-Section

Hi all

On the 20th I have a csection booked due to some complications which is going to be done under GA. What is everyone’s experience with csection under GA and do they use a breathing tube? How long does it take to come around from GA

Pelvic girdle pain

Is anyone else really struggling with pelvic girdle pain? I’m in absolute agony with it and walking is awful, it’s so painful and paracetamol isn’t touching it! My midwife has referred me to the physio but I only have four weeks left and she reckons they might not even get to see me before baby is here😫
