Sleep

My baby may be the worst sleeper ever. He is 5 months and the longest he’s ever slept is 5 hours… once… when he was 3 weeks old. He just went through the 4 month regression which was 8 weeks long and now he’s finally out of the other side but won’t sleep longer than 3 hours and that’s rare. Most of the time he sleeps 2 hours but after that first stretch in his cot if I don’t bring him into my bed he will wake up every 15 minutes, but this means my partner then goes to sleep downstairs half way through the night. He also usually does 3 naps a day and wakes up after half an hour unless we rock him back to sleep. We follow wake windows and make sure he’s tired enough at night. Please mums if you have any tips. I feel like I’m at breaking point. I know it’s usual for babies to want to feed in the night but this isn’t sustainable for me or him, even if he could sleep 3 hours that’d help.

Sounds like you have a perfectly normal baby! Babies are absolutely meant to feed throughout the night, the same as they do during the day!
What’s his sleep like when he’s in your bed?

Pulled over

Beating myself up because I got pulled over today with my baby in the car. Thinking I’m a terrible mother. Wasn’t speeding. Made “an illegal pass” 4 cars infront of me did the same thing… but I was the last car… so I got pulled over. Cop let me go with a warning because they know people do it all the time… but stressed how dangerous it was and how I could get into an accident. Cop is completely right and I’m thankful they let me off with a warning but can’t help but think I’m an awful mother who put her baby at risk.

Age for sleep training

At what age did you sleep train? Specifically Ferber method. Is 9 months (still has quite a lot of milk during night) too young??

Awkward coffee meet vent

I'm looking for some advice, validation.
I'm feeling a bit poo.

So yesterday I met an old work colleague for a coffee.
We haven't spoken in 6 years.
We were very good friends until she one day turned on me and for the life of me don't know what I did.
I know she was grieving the death of a friend and I did attempt at the time to ask if I had done something because she wasn't talking to me in the same way and treating me very differently.
I was so hurt that I left my job.

6 years later she messages me because she noticed a photo of me online with my baby.
I suggested going for a coffee and she could meet my LO which she agreed.
We met and she was overjoyed with my baby, asked to have a cuddle and was so sweet with her.
The conversation between us was forced and she didn't really want to know anything about me or my life prior to baby.
I was trying to ask questions about her life, Famliy etc and it was like getting blood from a stone?!
I'm just a bit confused by the encounter?
It felt like she wanted to meet just to hold and gush over my baby- which is fine a guess...
Just feeling a bit flat by it and still believing I have still done something wrong...

Walking???

Is anyone else’s 15mo old not walking yet?? We are being sent to early interventions and I’m absolutely anxious about it. He will walk holding onto us or chairs or anything and he’ll pull himself up while holding onto things but won’t standup freely either. He bear crawls and he’s soooo fast at it. Just need some reassurance that I’m not the only mom out there whose little one isn’t walking yet. He has hit all other milestones, just not walking yet.

Early risers

My 8 month old keeps waking up at 5.20am thinking this is a good time to start the day 😴 she goes to bed at 6.45pm and we did have about a week of her sleeping through until that time but recently she’s waking up at 1.30, 3.30 and then wide awake at 5.20. I ebf but I don’t feed her through the night, able to put the dummy in and rub her back. I can’t let her cry too much at 5.20 as she’s next door to my toddler and I don’t want to wake him up 🙈She naps in the morning 9.30-11ish and then 2.45-3.30ish. Is it just a phase?! 😴😴
