I’m planning to travel to South America on an 11-hour flight with my baby, and honestly I’m really scared about how to handle it. To save money, we didn’t buy a separate seat for him since airlines still allow lap infants, and we wanted to take advantage of that.
But with all these social media posts lately about people hating babies crying on airplanes — including insensitive comments and even videos of people attacking already stressed parents — I’ve developed real anxiety about flying with a baby.
I would really appreciate any tips, advice, or reassurance from parents who have done long flights with babies. Anything that helped you survive the trip would mean a lot. Thank you.

I flew 12 hours to Thailand and then 17 hours back from Vietnam with a layover in China with a 6/7 month old and he was fine! He slept pretty much the whole way home. Obviously every baby is different but yours might be absolutely fine! Try not to stress too much xx

How old is your baby and which airline are you flying with? Depending on your airline, call up / try to book the bassinet/bulkhead seats. Bassinets are on first come first served basis but there are sometimes weight limits.
