Hello, I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant and confused between choosing the hospitals and care option (public/semi-private/private). Please share your experiences/what would you recommend/not. Thankyouuu in advance💕🙏

Hi Incognito, I wasn’t in Dublin but I chose public and no issues with it. I was a bit unsure about being in a shared ward after the birth but everyone had the curtains around their bed closed and no one was very loud so it was fine

Public in the coombe in January and 4 years ago also, couldn’t fault it absolutely fantastic care.

Community midwives & homebirth!!
I've been with 2 different hospitals (public) and would have been better off at home. 3rd is a planned homebirth

Mine was in kerry and then limerick. Both public. No issues. If u can afford private go for it and if uve other reasons.

I had private in 2021 in rotunda but it was very different then where now private isn’t worth it unless there’s a specific consultant you want to deliver your baby and even then it can happen that they don’t in the end (this happened to me) I’m semi private in the rotunda now and the appointments are quick enough more so I want to hopefully be in a semi private ward post birth this time as I had a private room last time and it was a bit lonely as a first time mam I felt.
