What did my dr mean by saying “if she has room for an induction she’ll give me one”

Do they not schedule them ahead of time? She said she’ll let me know Tuesday if I can have an induction next week. Is it based on the hospital or the dr or what?

Some only do it if the baby or mother is in distress

Most OB’s will only schedule an induction if medically necessary - they’re more common for high risk pregnancies

In my case it was both. Sometimes you have to wait because hospital doesn’t have availability. And my doctor only had one shift every week. But it you don’t care if the other doctor will help you with delivery then it’s up to you. I hope that helps

It mostly depends on your OB. If you were considered high risk, they will schedule your induction between 37 weeks and 38 weeks. Just for the safety of you and your baby. But if you are healthy and the baby is safe The doctor just might want to induce you just in case they might be going out of town and don’t wanna miss you going into labor.
