Universal Credit

Hiya everyone 👋

I’ve recently moved over from a single claim to joint claim with my partner. One of my children got verified straight away but my other child hasn’t been yet (it’s been a week) he is disabled so gets DLA etc.
Is this normal? Do I need to be worried?

Id say its normal, because they qualify for dla they will give you more money for him so they are probably working that out. Its called 'disabled child element'. If your child is on the lower or middle rate care or mobility youll get an extra £164.79. If your child is on the highest care rate of dla component then youll get an extra £514.71. (They may put somewhere in the middle depending on your child) if you spend 35 hours a week caring for your child on middle or high rate care you may qualify for carer element which is an extra £198.31 per month. The carers allowance deducts pound for pound from your uc but it protects your national insurance credits for state pension so it is important to get it if you qualify.
