Back to talk about stopping breastfeeding cold turkey

Ok I’m feeling like I want to stop. Teeth are hurting me and I’m just fed up with all the nighttime wakings for boob. I need to hear all your stories and evidence that cold turkey is possible? What are your thoughts? The biggest problem for us is she won’t go to sleep without a boob. But did anyone think it was going to be really hard but actually it wasn’t? Thanks

cold turkey is dangerous for yourself as you can get mastitis and clogged ducts etc and is also pretty cruel on baby to just take away comfort cold turkey like that

I’ve cold turkey’s both times and been fine but my baby was very young and had no reliance on it.

Best way is to wean off especially if baby is older to stop mastitis.

I have night weaned cold turkey but not completely stopped cold turkey.

My oldest day weaned on his own except weekend naps around 13 months. So most days of the week I just did the bedtime feed and overnight - but he woke a lot at night. But that’s what my body had adjusted to and then I night weaned cold turkey at 17 months and it was fine. Kept the bedtime and weekend nap feeds until 22 months.

So of course in general gradual is best but it also depends.
