Newborn Constipation

Hi all, my little girl was born on the 17th May however she is a nightmare for going for a poo, she basically only poos every 4/5 days which means she gets so constipated no matter what we do e.g. bicycle legs, stomach rubs, baths etc

Has anyone else experienced this and got any tips? My first born was never like it but she gets so uncomfortable bless her

Thank you!

Following, my little girl was born 17th May too, and we're having a similar issue. Not as many days between poos but she really is struggling to go, not sure if it's just her learning how to go, or if she's constipated
She's combi fed since birth and her poos are typical breast-fed-like poos but she's struggling to get them out

Hopefully more people comment on this post and we get some more information 🤞🤞

Hi, my second baby is struggling so much with this and tonight was the third day of no poop. I got in the bath with her, held a wet muslin over her tummy and did gentle massages. I also fed her a little bit of colostrum in a bottle and all of this combined stimulated her to poop! It wasn't a pleasant bath but she's feeling much better ☺️ You can also use a cold wipe over their bottom during a change and sometimes the pressure can stimulate movement!

My LO is almost a month old and we have been having issues with Constipation too, so I feel you 🥹.

Are you bottle feeding or breastfeeding? I was combi feeding and cut out the formula as the breast milk is easier to digest and helped with my LO's bowel movements. I appreciate though this isn't an option for everyone.

The other tip I got was to run warm water over your baby's anus and tickle it with a cotton pad, it basically helps them to relax and hopefully encourages bowel movements. X

My baby girl is the same - mainly breastfed but does have the occasional formula bottle as well and she’s not day 3 of no poo’s and we are doing the same too with the tummy rubs etc so any other tips would be welcomed here too!

My baby was born on the 14th May and at a week old my little boy hadn’t been for three days and the health visitor advised using a bottle of the pre made formula as this is slightly more watered down 🤷‍♀️ Luckily he went that evening so we didn’t need to but it may be worth a try if you are bottle feeding

Best thing I did for pumping

When my son was born he was 6 weeks early and my supply was not in and I didn’t want to formula feed him. I got an amazing output after 5 days straight of pumping for what felt like hours and then when he left the NiCu and he came home my supply drooped rapidly, like over 150ml to under 60mls and this kid wanted to eat a lot so the stress didn’t help. I did my research and started drinking mother milk and Moringa tea every morning and let me tell you the difference after a few hours is scary good. The photo is after 13 mins of pumping on a machine that when I used it for 30 mins I got the smallest amount.

This might not work for everyone but it’s definitely something I personally recommend trying at least once if you can and your supply is low.

This is coming from some that did everything, coconut water, oats, hot showers, body armour sports drink, power pumping.

Have you had a “do whatever you want” moment? Share the battles you didn’t pick

At 2am my youngest was inconsolably screaming. After 20 minutes trying to figure out what she wanted she got a bar, but no it doesn’t stop there! She refused to throw the wrapper away and instead insisted on sleeping with it. So there she was snuggling with an empty bar wrapper like it was her most loved possession and I finally got to go back to sleep (I went to bed at 1:30 so I was in no shape to fight again lol)

Anyone anxious birthing a whole human infront of their husband?

I don’t want him to see ANYTHING! What if I poop and he sees it? Or just the pure trauma from all the blood and obviously what your coochie looks like during birth.

colostrum

i know they say how much colostrum you collect before birth doesn't influence your milk supply after birth but today (my third time collecting it) I got 18 syringes and am worried I'll be an oversupplier and get infections because of it

When to cut down to 1 nap?

How do you know when your bub is ready to cut down to 1 nap?

Right now my almost 10m old naps from 12pm - 2pm then again around 4/5pm for 1 hour and a half

the past 2 nights she hasn’t slept well but I think that’s down to a regression or learning now to crawl? Who even knows

When did you know your bubs are ready to cut a nap?
