I’ve been told by the sonographer at my 20 week scan that my placenta is totally covering my cervix, so placenta previa.
She said I’ll have a scan at 32 weeks to check if it’s moved.
I’ve not received any more advice or had any contact with an obstetrician or midwife since then, should I have?
What is the guidance in the UK for this?
I’ve read about others being told they need additional scans or to be on pelvic rest but I’ve not been told anything!
Now I’m too scared to lift my toddler or have sex.
What are other people’s experiences of being told this at 20 weeks?
Any advice welcomed, thank you 🙏🏼

I was the same , I got no advice , they said come back at 36 weeks and I still had placenta previa so I had to get booked in for a c section

Hi! was diagnosed with it at 18 weeks and was also not told anything about pelvic rest. I just continued going to my normal OB appointments. At 27 weeks I had a big bleed after continuing my normal life, including lifting my toddler. I was admitted to the hospital for 3 days and was finally sent home on pelvic rest. No lifting my toddler, no sex, no working out. Just working my desk job and home. I was told if I have another bleed like the last, I’ll be put in bed rest.
I don’t know the guidance for it in the UK. But my advice is to just take it easy. Refrain from lifting your toddler unless necessary.

I had this at 20 weeks and had a scan every 4 weeks. At 36 weeks, my placenta had moved

I'm in the UK and wasn't told any of this stuff at the appointment either only told just to go to triage if I experience any bleeding.
I found out about pelvic rest etc from googling placenta previa after the scan and through getting people's experiences on this group. Put myself on pelvic rest just to be on the safe side. Would definitely recommend it as best as possible (obviously not possible to do complete pelvic rest with a toddler) but better safe than sorry 😊xx

Diagnosed at 12 weeks in the US, so a little different experience. Upon diagnosis, I was put on pelvic rest and told not to lift anything over 20 lbs. We were so worried. An experienced physician we know personally put us totally at ease and told us he had never seen anyone come to the emergency room due to complications with placenta previa.
It only moved slightly over the course of the pregnancy, so I had a planned c-section that went smoothly. All in all, a rather uneventful diagnosis aside from the c-section.
