So I'm pregnant and have a 1 year old. I'm not working and currently live in a private rented 1 bed flat with my partner and 1 year old.
It's hard to find a new flat as many landlords don't accept universal credit. I was hoping to get a bigger place with universal credit paying the rent until I go back to work in a year's time or so but due to local housing rates, with the areas I'm looking at I don't think I could comfortably afford a 2 bed flat.
Any ideas or advice on realistic options that I have? I'm on the council housing waiting list but I wouldn't get a place for years to come. I really don't know what to do.
Do I just convert my current 1 bed flat into a 2 bed with no living space?
Any advice or tips is welcome and would be much appreciated as I really don't know what to do

Have you reviewed the recent rental reforms? I am pretty sure there are additional protections for being on universal credit

That's really unprofessional to hear, I am sorry.

I thought Landlords were not allowed to knock back people on universal credit ? Will you be going back to the same job or starting somewhere new? As long as they see you'll be returning to work.
Im sorry I cant help 😔
