I have spoken to my GP about a referral for an adult autism assessment. I have family members who are diagnosed and I've done a lot of research and believe I may be too. I also think my son might be so I'm hoping if I can get diagnosed this will help him. NHS waiting list is 5-6 years, so I've asked to go down the right to choose route but I need to pick a provider and finding it a bit overwhelming.
Just wondering if anyone could share their experiences if you've had an assessment with an adult through right to choose. Who did you go with and why, did you have a positive experience? I'd like them to be thorough and understanding of how autism presents in women.

Hiya, i'm a social prescriber so i refer patients daily for assessments. I have also referred myself for both adhd & autism. I would highly recommend health harmony minds. Heard nothing but good things and they got back to me really quickly. 2 of my friends went through them and spoke really highly of them xx

I had a bad experience with right to choose personally.. with Psychology UK. I didn't choose them, it's who was chosen for me, but I got seen in 3 weeks. I had a lot of forms but only a 50 minute session. It was concluded that because my parents were dead, despite having school reports and my older brother's written account of my childhood that they couldn't decide in a short call so I need to go on the NHS waiting list. Which is 5.5 years in my area. My brother however, I can't remember who he went with got 2 hours of sessions, and an hour with his wife. He had to wait about a year though.

I wanted to know before I had a child because I thought it would make it easier to go through pregnancy and parenting 😒.
