Hey girlies, I’m due on 16th June with my second. I had a midwife appointment this afternoon and was due to have a sweep. When she felt my tummy to feel where baby was she told me that baby’s head isn’t engaged so she wouldn’t be able to do a sweep. Is this normal? I didn’t have sweeps with my first so unsure on how it all works!
Thanks!!!!

Not an expert but my baby was not engaged as well at 38 weeks and was engaged after the week 39. Why would you do a sweep before? Is the baby big? I personally refused the sweep and book directly the induction at the hospital on 41w+5, I am waiting for her to come naturally. (My due date was the 8th of June). As far as I understood if the baby is not engaged the sweep could be useless and painful. My friend had two sweeps at 39w because her baby was big and she wanted to avoid the pharmaceutical induction and worked the second time. But it depends where you live, when I spoke with my Gyno in Italy, he told me they do the sweep only if there is a minimum of dilation and at the hospital. So it is up to you really.
