Question

Has anyone given birth at 34-35 weeks gestational age? My doctors are telling me I might have to do an early C-section for medical reasons but I just don’t know what to expect for baby’s health and development to be like at that stage..

I had an emergency c section at 34+4 - baby was fine, thankfully. We had no NICU time but spent a few days in hospital as she was jaundiced and needed phototherapy. She was checked every 2 hours, and they were happy with her progress. Other than being on the small side, initially, she has gained weight well and is thriving. I would say follow the advice of the doctors and advocate for yourself if you feel in your gut something isn't right.

I had my daughter at 35+5. It was a rash decision the day before so she didnt have the time to get all the steroids needed to help finish her lungs. She needed nicu for 7 days to help with breathing and had an ng tube for 10 days which she hadnt used it for 24 hours before they took it out. After discharge we had a few a&e visit due to bronchitis and affecting her breathing. But shes now 7 months old and is like nothing happened

Spontaneous labour at 35+5. Not born small (I had GD) spent 3 days in NICU for breathing, 1 day on normal ward to establish breastfeeding and monitor, and then discharged.
He was a little jaundice and had phototherapy whilst in NICU, but nothing else major health wise.

I had my babies with a planned c- section, they only wanted to do it early because they were worried that my baby girl was smaller l, she came out over a 1lb more than they said she would be.
The weight gain was slow at first but it gradually went up and up.
