Leaving baby upstairs with monitor

At what age did people begin to leave their baby upstairs in their crib using a baby monitor? My baby is 7 weeks and settles at 8pm for a few hours. Is it ok to leave him in his crib and use a monitor.

6 months is the recommended guildline in the UK before leaving your baby with a monitor.

My LO (13 weeks) is upstairs in our room in her next to me bed with the monitor on and the door open, I do periodically go up there to check her but she's safe sleeping so I guess its each to their own.
I know the guideline is 6 months but you know your baby ❤️
