Eczema!!!

So my son is almost 7 months, he got eczema on the front of his ankles around 5.5 months or so is when I really started to notice it.

So I stopped using socks and footie pjs because I thought maybe it was from sweating in those areas. Then I changed the detergent I use on his clothes.. keep in mind I have eczema too but I was able to find the cause of it and change all my stuff to hypoallergenic and non scented detergent and mine went away (I know baby skin is more sensitive but still) then I got eczema creams and lotions and bath soap. I used those for a week straight and it did nothing.

So I took him to the doctors and they gave me 2.5% hydrocortisone cream and another antibiotic because after a week of using the other stuff it had yellow crusties in it so that’s why I took him to the doctor. I asked them to give me a referral to a dermatologist and they basically told me they want to see him before referring me anywhere. Which I think is ridiculous.

Any suggestions on what I should try or do?!

Oat meal baths.

When my first had eczema no lotions except aquaphor every night after bath helped. What fixed it completely was me cutting out dairy (he was breastfed) and adding colloidal oatmeal to every bath and letting him soak in it 10-15 mins. I made the oatmeal by just blending it up into a super fine powder. However! It isn’t great for bathtub pipes and can potentially clog or cause mold build up in the pipes so best to do a smaller amount dissolved in a baby tub vs a bigger tub! Good luck! Xx

Breastmilk works really well in addition to all that.

I stopped using the hydrocortisone cream and tubby Todd all over ointment has worked so well. It’s almost gone and only been 4days. I use 2x a day and when I bathe her I exfoliate lightly. It’s almost completely gone.

I use Avène XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Balm on my son once a day and it’s done wonders for his eczema.
