When I was pregnant I had gestational diabetes. I was only able to get a box of 5 insulin pens at a time on prescription and therefore have 3 full and completely unused pens (no needles) left with a date for use in 2028. They’ve all been properly stored in the fridge.
Seems a shame to bin them yet impossible to pass them on to anyone and pharmacies etc won’t take them. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do with them or do they just have to go in the bin?

Pharmacies won’t take them back to redistribute but they should take them back to dispose of them safely and properly. No guarantee that you wouldn’t have tampered with them etc, would you really feel comfortable accepting medication like that from a random person, especially in pregnancy?

I work in pharmacy, unfortunately even with the best intentions and keeping the medication stored correctly, we just can’t take the risk 😞 it’s such a waste on the NHS especially when people over-order, but like above, you wouldn’t want to take the chance if it’s been tampered with/not stored correctly.. sad really 😞
