Has anyone else found it really difficult just being in mum-mode 24/7?

April baby is my second, I also have a 3yo, and I'm finding it really difficult. Every second of the day is taken up by my children and family and house, and of course I love it mostly, but I'm overwhelmed by how little time I get to do anything for myself.

I'm so embarrassed to admit it but I shower way less than I should because it just feels like an enormous task when I have barely any energy and just want to go to sleep. Whenever I do shower it's a quick 5 minutes in and out. I brush my hair maybe once or twice a week because I just feel run off my feet, I've just been throwing it into a claw clip as soon as I wake up because baby needs tending to immediately as I open my eyes.

I used to do so many little hobbies - I'd read a new book every week or so, crochet, painting and drawing, walking and yoga, baking. I don't do anything now.

I baked some sugar cookies for my sons birthday a couple weeks ago and it felt like such an effort to get it done. I had to split it up over 2 and a half days just to get them baked and decorated. I was whisking whilst my baby screamed, sitting on the floor in front of the oven with her in my arms so I could watch for them being done because if I put her down for 5 minutes she'd explode. This was all round a time she was having a bit of a fussy spell, she's a bit calmer now, but it all just happens at once.

It makes me fuming when I see my husband enjoying all his hobbies like he did before, and if he gets interrupted and huffs about it all annoyed at if he's so hard done by it gets me even more annoyed. Like be still gets to play video games all the time, he plays the piano and recently got a new keyboard which he's been on constantly, he's been able to watch all the world cup football, just things that I wouldn't feel like I was able to do. I can't remember the last time I watched anything, probably when I was pregnant.

Oh yah and me. My poor 3 yo barely gets a slice of me and his behaviour shows. Now the littlest is getting older I’m going to do every other bed time, but his behaviour is just so difficult atm it makes doing stuff like that so hard. Always ends in tears

I also am definitely showering less than I’d like 😂 my legs haven’t seen a razor in months. My hair is always a mess and I barely make it into fresh undies until noon. I justify that by putting fresh on for bed lol. Makes me feel less of an ogre.

As for hubby, tell him to buck the fuck up and help out. I’m sure you’ve spoken to him, but really drill it in. Nothing annoys me more than a bloke who’s huffing cos they gotta help out with the life they went halves on.

Postpartum self care

FTM here, I feel like I'm being so organised for baby and completely forgot about myself and not sure of everything I'll need.
What are things I'll need/be super helpful....literally everything from underwear to healing sprays/gels, pads etc.
Hoping for a water birth and to breastfeed....so anything essential for breastfeeding too.
Recommendations extremely welcome 😅

Due in 3 weeks, which name?!

Her middle name will be Alison. We had made our decision on Lily, but now we’re second thinking! 🤦🏼‍♀️ which one do you prefer?

Heartbeat scan

I have a 7 week scan on Friday to check for a heartbeat and I am absolutely terrified. I’m 6 weeks and 1 day and have had no nausea at all. I had a stomach virus last week which is something I haven’t had since I was a child, but that’s all and I think that’s due to a weakened immune system rather than pregnancy nausea. Anyone else struggled with this anxiety and what did you do to ease your mind?! 😖

ER or am I just paranoid?

So for the past few days I’ve noticed that whenever I eat a meal, my chest starts to feel tight and it gets hard for me to breathe. I try changing my posture or even leaning back a little but it doesn’t help. Even without me eating I still feel the same feeling.
What should I do?

Contractions...

I know that every body is different, but how do you know if you're having actual contractions ? Of course at some point I'll be like "oh yeah, baby's coming 100%", but I don't want to be ready to bear down while still at home.

I've felt low grade (2-4 pain) period cramps throughout the day, since yesterday. I do randomly get one that's worse (4-6 pain), but the lower grade ones are more common. Happens every now and again, maybe twice an hour. They have been along my lower belly and sometimes lower back.

I'm definitely dropped. Belly is soft along the top (feels weird 😅). Lightning crotch is starting and baby's head is applying some pressure. Midwife said I was 3cm on Thursday. However, no sign of my water breaking except a small dribble yesterday, and that really could have just been pee.

41+1... so just waiting. Could this be it ? 😮‍💨🙏

Gender Scan (fail)

We had our gender scan booked for today but little Bean was very uncooperative! They kept laying face down having a snooze and using the placenta like a pillow! When they did wake up they had their legs crossed.

Has anyone else had their gender scan rescheduled? Also, is there anything I can do next time to make sure the baby is more alert and less snoozy?
