Osteopath was a major douchebag know-it-all, but the treatments were very effective.
We saw a new osteopath yesterday and he really rubbed me the wrong way. He was extremely condescending and “mansplained” a lot of basic concepts to me (he had a white board in the office and used it to explain a bell curve after I said my son was behind in gross motor skills 🙄).
He was very contrarian and basically had a counterpoint to everything I said during the intake process (e.g., the intake form asks about their medical history and I said they were born premature. He said I shouldn’t pigeonhole them based on that and assume all their issues stem from it. Like, bro, I didn’t say that. Your form asked for medical history, that’s part of their medical history. Nowhere did I indicate that I think it’s causing anything).
At the end we got into a full blown debate about whether or not having tonsils and adenoids removed changes the body’s “baseline.”
When he finally did the treatments, the boys responded really well and I can see improvements in their posture/alignment already. They both seemed to like him and he is good when interacting with the kids.
I booked in again in 3 weeks, but his vibe and communication style really got under my skin, so I’m not sure I want to go back.

As horrible as this is about to sound, the next appointment I’d try bringing a man with you, (like your partner if ya could) and see if he talks any differently with him. 🤷♀️
If he does I’d call it out & maybe start looking for somebody else

Is he an osteopathic medical doctor? Some people call themselves osteopaths when they have not gone to medical school and are essentially pseudoscience.
So I would make sure he is the real kind and then probably look around for another person. My hospital system lets you look up specialties so I would try that and see if there are any others around.
