Hi, I just had my 10 week appointment today and unfortunately was told that we lost our baby about 2 weeks ago at around 8 weeks. There was no more heartbeat.
Question - how bad will the pill be as opposed to D&C at this stage? Also, is just waiting for my body to naturally pass it an option? Our goal is to try again as soon as we get to the other side of this.
Never thought we’d be in this position - I am still feeling like maybe my OB misread it or something. Hugs to those who went through similar situations.

I’m so sorry for your loss. There’s nothing anyone can say to take away the pain but just know you aren’t alone in this.
I’m sorry I can’t offer advice for next steps- my loss naturally passed.

I’m so so sorry. I had a MMC before my last pregnancy and it was awful also kept hoping it was a mistake. I hope you are doing okay ❤️ I had a D&C and we were able to start trying again after the first period thereafter. It was extremely difficult but I heard passing at home can be tough too xx all the options are not great so choose what you feel is best x

I'm so sorry 😞
I'm going through the same now. Not sure where you are but I was offered leaving it to happen naturally, the pessary or d&c. I chose naturally and it all started itself the same day. I had been spotting for 2 days at that point though.
I've no experience with the other 2 so can't offer any advice on those I'm afraid

I’m so sorry to hear this! Allow yourself time to process and grieve. This Happened to me at 9 weeks and the baby had passed one day prior and I knew something was off as my symptoms stopped. I opted for a d and c as passing naturally can take some time and wanted to start trying straight away. I got my period back and am pregnant 6 weeks now first cycle xxx

I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️unfortunately I’ve been through it twice, so I have experience with different methods. I went with D&C for my first miscarriage when my baby measured 9.5 weeks. And I took misoprostol when my baby measured little over 6w but I found out at almost 10w appointment. My preference is the pill hands down - but only if the baby is small enough. I preferred the experience with the pill, I had no pain and it wasn’t nearly as dramatic or traumatic as people online made me believe it would be. I’d absolutely go with the pill if baby was 7w, but 8w is a bit of a grey area. If it’s closer to 9w, maybe D&C starts to be better. I’ll add that in my case, the pill worked fast and it was just a heavier period indeed, in addition to some large clots and tiny baby, but it was pretty much painless. I did take ibuprofen 1 hour before taking the pill, and I usually have mild periods/no cramping, so that might have helped too with the pain. I’m happy to answer any questions!

This happened to me in July 2024, we were 8 weeks. I opted got Manual Vacuum as GA scares me. It was incredibly painful and I bled for around 2.5 weeks. I fell pregnant in October 2024 and had my little boy in July 2025.
Sending lots of love 💚
