Confused and sad

I’m 37 + 5 today and just came back from an ultrasound appointment at a different location for my obgyn and was told that my baby is only 5 pounds and 8 ounces and if they have talked to me at all about my babies weight and they have not. I’ve always asked every ultrasound appointment if everything looks good and if he looks healthy and on track and have always been told everything looks great and now I’m being told his weight is very low. I’m just so confused and sad and don’t know what’s going on anymore at this point. I’m never told anything every appointment and when I ask I’m always told everything is perfectly fine. This is my first pregnancy and I’ve been active and drink lots of water and i don’t smoke or drink or have before I got pregnant and take my vitamins but I will admit I’ve eaten a lot of fast food. Has anyone experienced the same?

I really wouldn’t worry too much! Ultrasound measurements are an inexact science, even this late in pregnancy (actually, I’d say particularly this late because baby is all squashed in there!). Like, two really experienced techs can get different measurements depending on babe’e position and stuff.

We had one reading around 37 weeks where they could barely see my son’s legs so they were measuring in the first percentile and I was SO freaked out that he’d be born with lil chicken legs, but he was totally fine and his legs are proportional with the rest of him. If your regular OB hasn’t noticed or mentioned it, you’re almost certainly fine.

I gave birth at 36 and 5 to a 4lb 7oz baby. We knew at 20 weeks she was iugr or growth restricted. She was never in the nicu and did not have any problems related to her weight.
When baby is born and the weeks after the may have you feed every 3 whether they wake up or not. That typically stops after they have surpassed birth weight.
Don't stress too much! 5lbs is just a small baby nothing too concerning!
