Hi Poppy!

My name is Brooke and I’m from Sydney, Australia, and I just wanted to get in touch to let you know how incredible I found Birth Box to be.

I purchased Birth Box for my second birth, after a pretty traumatic experience with the birth of my son in 2020. Before his birth, I completed an in-person hypnobirthing course - but I found that when the time came to birth it left me pretty unequipped as far as coping techniques. The course also downplayed the intensity and pain of birth in my opinion, and had a judgemental feel towards hospital and medical professionals.

During my first birth, I experienced the cascade of intervention (I’d tested positive for Strep B, which is routinely tested for in my state), so the midwives pushed to augment my labour. I ended up with an epidural, vacuum delivery, and a lot of trauma, as I didn’t feel as though I’d consented to a lot that happened to me during my labour.

Being pregnant for a second time, I found the trauma rearing it’s head, and was recommended your instagram by a friend of mine who is a midwife. To say it changed my experience would be a huge understatement - your birth track absolutely got my through my labour, and after 21 hours I ended up with a physiological, drug free water birth. I was also able to stay home for most of the labour (my midwife friend that recommended you to me was my doula) and went to hospital to birth.

Thank you for creating such an empowering and realistic course - and for talking about the fact that birth is painful. I feel like so many people avoid using the word “pain” but I think it’s so important to build realistic expectations around what birth is really like.

My birth was raw, intense, beautiful and empowering, and I couldn’t have done it without Birth Box. It alleviated a lot of my fear and re-built my confidence in my body’s ability to birth, along with helping me get ready for birth mentally.

I’ve already been recommending your course to all of my pregnant friends!
