Hi all,
My baby is 9 months tomorrow and I’ve started to breastfeed a bit less and occasionally offer a bottle of formula (for a bit of freedom). I’m completely new to formula/ bottle feeding so apologies if this is a wild question but…. Are you all still sterilising the bottles religiously?
Excuse my naivety but does the dishwasher not do the job?
It seems odd when he’s eating things off spoons and plates that haven’t been sterilised and quite often picking up random objects from around the house and putting them in his mouth too…
What are you all doing at 8/9 months? Thanks

I sterlise the bottles still (i use tommee tippee so self sterlise in the microwave)
You sterlise bottles especially when formula feeding, due to bacteria that can form in the bottles (from what ive heard)

Yes sterilisation is necessary until 1 year old, as their guts are not equipped or mature to deal with the infections that could potentially arise from formula use within bottles.
If it is breast milk- sterilisation not required after 6m of age
Thanks! How do you sterilise in the microwave? Or what’s the easiest way of doing it? I don’t want to buy a machine or anything, as he won’t be having formula after 1 x
