Coffee, cold prepared food and pregnancy.
I noticed the pocket for my blue book said avoid caffeine but I’ve read elsewhere that you can have limited caffeine.
I’m not a heavy coffee drinker but I do like a coffee or a tea here and there. Not even everyday but here and there. I’ll have one that day.
What’s the actual guidance and is anyone else drinking coffee while pregnant?
Also I’ve read that prepared cold sandwiches and fruit and salads etc carry a risk listeria or something.
I had a cold prawn sandwich from pret and I’ve been eating cold sandwiches all this time 😫 now that I read this I’m like ok so if I’m out and about I should only eat hot food - there so much to think about all the time 🥹 anyone else heard this or following doing this?

Id always refer to NHS guidance for this. Can definitely still have caffeine. I have the odd coffee at home but it's not strong and limit myself to maximum 2 teas a day.
Not heard anything about cold sandwiches and I've eaten plenty! Pretty sure that's not a thing. I think some fruit salad pots were recalled recently from certain shops but it's not normally an issue!
Here's the guidance on NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/

Hi. I’ve been having coffee everyday, NHS website has the information on the amount you can have. I kinda been avoiding prepped fruits, salad and sandwiches with meat/fish as I think they do have an increased risk of listeria. You will be ok though! I think it’s more about minimising the risk, I wouldn’t stress about it now.

You're advised to have less than 200mg caffeine a day, that's a fair bit so one coffee every now and again is fine. Also yeh, avoid salad bars and prepared cold sandwhichs, they have risk of listeria
