Hats

My 2 year old has very little understanding and has suspected autism. He will not keep a hat on. Does anyone have any tips? We usually try caps but should I try a different style of hat? We try not to go out when it’s too hot and I do use an spf spray for his head/hair but just wondering what else I can do?

Have you tried sun hat with straps. Sometimes with a complicated strap toddlers may just give up from trying to remove it .

My son is unofficially diagnosed with autism n he will not have anything on his head. He straight away pulls it off. And shoes as well. Will not wear shoes. Have got him some difficult shoes so he can't take them off

If it’s a sensory thing, I wouldn’t force it. My son was the same way for years, refused to wear anything on his head. Then one day out of nowhere became obsessed with putting anything he could find on his head and will actually wear hats and helmets now. But I think not forcing it, and allowing him to come to that on his own terms helped.
