I left an open storage bottle of breastmilk out for 3 1/2 hours after pumping can I still use it even though it was open? It smells and tastes okay. There were two feedings in there and the first one was in the fridge after pumping a couple hours earlier and then I pumped and added another and forgot to put it in the fridge! I really don’t want to dump 7 ounces!

I believe they say 4 hours out, 4 days in the fridge, 4 months in the freezer. I usually lean towards 1 or 2 hours to be safe, but I've definitely given my baby milk out for 3

It's ok to leave fresh breastmilk up to 4 hours! This definitely happened to me a couple of times 😅 I always aim to get it fed or in the fridge within an hour, but life happens with little babies and mom brain!

Full survivors bias over here so take that as you will but I’ve definitely been a bit more lax with my timing and it’s been fine. Life is chaotic and things happen, you know your baby and environment best.

Thank you guys so much i feel so much better💕

Just a FYI. You shouldn’t mix breastmilk with different temperatures. Meaning don’t put freshly pumped milk with milk already refrigerated until the fresh milk is cooled down, too. At least that’s the recommendation
As for your current issue, I personally wouldn’t use it, but I was an overproducer so while annoying it wasn’t an issue for me
With the cap being open you would need to check that there is nothing inside

Even as overproducer I wouldn't dump it, I'm assuming the temperature in the house is good so keep it, to be safe that would be the first bottle I would feed. My baby is okay, I have reheated fresh milk for the baby multiple times a day and never a problem

if it really stresses you out that much, pass it through a super fine mesh strainer to make sure there's no icky stuff that fell into it. if there's not, you're good to use it. if there is, i would use it for a milk bath or maybe try to make butter or something

Yes it has 4 hour at room temp
