So for the last week or so my boy has let go and is balancing on his own for a good 20 secs then goes to walk but falls down. He doesn’t stand from sitting he will crawl then pull himself up on furniture then move to let go and balance. Would walking be the next stage if so when would you think he would take his first steps? Or do they need to get up from sitting before walking?

My boy was doing that a week or 2 before walking. He eventually got it from sitting. He started at 10.5 months and is now 13 months.

This stage can go on a while and every baby is different. But the face he can stand for 20 secs is amazing!
My first baby pulled to stand, cruised and then got to standing by himself from sitting before taking his first steps at 11m, but some babies pull to stand on furniture and then take steps but if they fall down they can’t get back up on their own they need to pull up on furniture again.
My friends kid pulled to stand and cruised furniture for like 7 months before walking!
It really can depend 😊

Mine was walking for ages before he was able to stand without pulling up on something. But before the walking started, it was letting go and balancing as you are seeing now

It depends, my boy was pulling up and cruising from 9 months, standing unassisted for a few seconds up to a minute from 10.5 months for about a month before he decided to take first steps just before his first birthday. He only started standing from sitting 2 weeks later. It really depends on how confident they want to be before they try

My girl was doing it for a few weeks before walking. My eldest never stood without holding on before walking - he’d pull himself up on something, walk to something else and hold on.
