Breastfeeding

hi everyone! first time mum here to my 11 day old baby boy. I've been breast feeding my baby and I wondered is it normal for him to want to be on my boob every hour? I know it's for his comfort too but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this and does it get better, will he eventually stop latching as often? he wakes in the night every hour and a half for a feed so I'm pretty exhausted. my midwife is happy with my latch and said he's getting what he needs, however im only pumping 1oz a day so I'm struggling to make enough for a bottle in between breastfeeding for my partner to help me. any advice or tips please? ☺️

Congratulations mama! Oooo those first few weeks are brutal with the cluster feeds. Keep at it it does get better bubba is just putting his milk order in for the next week or so. It will ease up, just set aside anything you pump and before you know it you’ll have enough for a bottle then it’ll only get more. Also little tip to increase supply other than keeping baby close make sure you’re getting your hydration and calories in ❤️ good luck

Oh it's tough in the early days! Little one is gearing up for that 2 week growth spurt, this is entirely normal.

In regards to pumping, it's not always the help or break that you're hoping for, because whenever baby has a bottle you need to pump (especially in the early days as you are) in order to tell your body that baby is still feeding!

By the way, breastfed babies only need 1-1.5oz of milk per hour since their last feed and never more than 5oz at once even as they age, but as your baby is still so young it will be even less than that. So an ounce is plenty if it gives you an hour to yourself. Just remember to pump to replace what baby is drinking (although we wouldn't normally recommend pumping at this stage exactly for this reason, so that your supply can regulate and your body can learn how much to make).

congratulations first of all! the first two weeks are the hardest time breastfeeding. i would say yes its fairly normal for them to want to latch that often. i say for comfort and also their stomachs are so small so food especially breastmilk gets digested so fast. it does get better! but i will say my baby girl is 8 months and since i ebf she does still want to latch at night a lot. (im still exhausted). my only recommendation on pumping is do you have a milk catcher or haaka? that can help with milk collection during feeds. once you do have enough for the bottle it becomes easier to pump because while your partner is feeding the baby you can be pumping to supplement that feed! good luck you got this

Completely normal, but very tough on mama, I can relate. You can try using a haaka on the other boob when breastfeeding which can catch the let down, which is a good way of getting some milk while your little one is latched on the other.

Sounds very normal but it will get better! You might find that using a milk collector on the side you are not feeding on or a hakaa / silicone pump you might get enough that you don't need to pump separately. With my first, we didn't introduce a bottle until around 6 weeks so you have time to start a bit later if you'd prefer to take the pressure off that way

First 6 weeks are hard. I breastfed all 3 of mine, currently still feeding 23month old.

Cluster feeding is normal, by 6 weeks your body has learnt when baby wants/needs milk. Until then the cluster feeding helps for your body to build its supply not only that breastmilk changes during hotter weather to help baby stay hydrated.

Just dont put too much pressure on yourself, like someone suggested you could use the hakka to catch the other side and then you have some extra but I wouldnt pump because you may end up with an oversupply.

To get more milk you need to remove the milk if that makes sense so when you actively pump your body makes more thinking you need more.

The hakka catches the let down which is usually about 1oz at first.

100% normal! Basically a breast fed baby can feed any time from every 30 minutes right up to 3 hours. And yes they will go longer.the first 6 weeks are the hardest. Your milk supply is going crazy with your body trying to work out whag baby needs while baby is also figuring out their latch. You'll get to a point where theyll latch for like 10 minutes and be good for 3 hours. Cluster feeding is hard work but it usually only happens during growth spert or if they are unwell once you get past the 6 week mark

Boyfriend wants to put baby for adoption.

My one month old has always been on the fussier side since birth, lots of crying and just wants to be held. Recently, he was “diagnosed” with colic so the crying at night has been intense for long periods. I try my best to console him but there’s not much I can do other than to hold him and give him gas drops to help. My boyfriend (his dad) doesn’t have as much as patience as I do and he made a comment while our baby was intensely crying and said “this is what makes me want to put him up for adoption”. I immediately started crying because instead of him trying to help me to console our baby he makes comments like that. What would y’all have responded or done about that
comment if it was said to you?

Nappy Changes

So, my 10 month old has discovered his willy. Every nappy change is a struggle now as he just pulls on it and im worried he will hurt himself. Its also a pain to then keep his hands away from his mouth mid nappy change when cleaning him up.

Any advise on the best way to navigate this would be appreciated.

Sincerely a first time boy mum ✌️

Nappy bin - worth it? Angel care vs tommee tippee ?

Hello
I was wondering if getting a nappy bin is worth it or not ? Or do you just use a scented bin bag ?
We also have a dog and where we live there is no bin outside so we have to put the poop bags in our house , so I was thinking maybe it’s worth getting one for the scent as it could double for the baby and our dog ?
If so, do you recommend the angel care bin or the Tommy tippee ? I’ve heard that some people say even the Amazon recharge are expensive and they just use a scented bin bag (with we do, from Costco).
I’m a bit lost of the topic
Thank you ☺️

HELP PLEASE

my mother in law has always been very obsessed with my partner I never thoght much of it untill I was pregnant with a baby boy
she would always say things like you will never love your daughter as much as your son she has always baby him witch caused him a lot of mental problems

My mother in law has continuely called my partner sexy she has also told me she had to stop herself for staring at him with his shirt off, she once asked if he was soft while looking at his sweatpants and said wow you got that from my side of the family, she has gone in his room after he saod he was geting dressed and started him and said she didnt mean to or didn't hear him, she always comes in when hes in a towel and once the towel fell as he was trying to get her to leave and she just stared down and told everyone about it, she has also unlocked his bed room door in the middle of the night to go in and give him kisses and cuddles because he wont let her do it while hes awake she used to do this when I lived with them. There has been multiple other instances of this nature.

Because of this it has put my on my back foot when it comes to her and my son being alone, when I change his nappy she sits next to me or my partner talking to the baby but also comments on how we are wiping him, because of these instances me and my partner agreed no one changes his nappy but us unless someone is baby siting, his mother didnt like this amd then complained to wider family saying we were stopping her grandmother experience. My mother in law is continually asking to have my son alone I do not work and my partner barley dose so it is very rare we need a baby super I also have post ppa and its hard for me to leave him anyway even with my partner.

Am I over reacting? I dont speak to my own mother but of my dad was saying this about me and I had a daughter he wouldnt be coming near her ever I need advice honest advice please xx

Nap lengths

My boy is 3 months old. Some days he has naps that at 30 mins. Some are 3 hours. I tend to let him have what he needs unless we need to be somewhere. Does anyone else let their baby sleep or wake them up?
