Weaning Anxiety

Hello everyone

I am going to start weaning my baby soon but I feel so anxious! I am super fearful of choking and allergies. I feel that every time she eats solids, I will be holding my breath with worry.

Has anyone else felt like this? What has helped overcome your anxiety?

I am on the same board. I think we should start giving puries

I had a book called 'How to Wean Your Baby' by Charlotte Stirling-Reed that was really helpful and reassuring for me. It gives all the info on allergies and tells your how to prepare the food and then has a 30 day plan to follow for the first days as well as recipes. I still use the recipes now and my little one is 2. It gave me confidence to feel like I was doing the right thing. After the first stages of weaning I used an app called Solid Starts. You can search for food an it tells you how to cut it or serve it depending on the baby's age. It is handy for working out what is a choking hazard and what is appropriate for their age. Those two things helped me. I also did a baby first aid course so I'd know what to do in an emergency

Take a first aid course geared to parents. It was so helpful. Solid Starts app was so helpful as well!
