No added sugar or salt

Was told by a specialist doctor about it being important to not let baby have any added salt or sugar as this could increase risk of getting a water infection which could then cause problems. Baby is still under one I ve extremely anxious about this and have been extremely strict. Anyone have any advice or what they do please

I was very strict while she was under 1. Babies that young don’t need it, even if they don’t have kidney problems!

We did baby led weaning so I cooked the meal, removed her portion and then seasoned it to my taste (then my husband added more salt/chili flakes to his! 🤣)

After a year old, I stayed cautious about her diet, but I stopped being quite so strict. If we were out she’d see other kids eating crisps or whatever and want to try them, I’d let her. She is 3 now and I have to say, still doesn’t really like salty or overly sweet foods/drinks.

Our consultant told us it was important to make sure she stays hydrated, that how much she drank was more important than her diet. So once you get properly into solids, make sure you’re giving fluids regularly throughout the day! Her water bottle goes everywhere with her! She picks them out herself.

It is very hard not to feel anxious when they are so little ♥️ hopefully with time you will feel more confident and stay infection free! ♥️♥️
