I would first start with changing his mattress if you haven’t done so already, with brand new bedsheets. If LO’s eyes are crusting over it could indicate bacteria?

Ide go to pharmacy tomorrow morning x

If your child's eyes are crusting over it's a sign of conjunctivitis. Your gp can prescribe antibiotic eyedrops for it or you can keep wiping away the crust with cotton pads dipped in warm water. It should clear on its own in around a week or two but the eyedrops definitely speed it up a bit.

My son got runny nose, rub it against his eyes that causes conjunctivitis. GP checked and only told us to clean the crust and as much as possible ensure we clean his nose and that he doesn’t rub it everywhere. Hope he gets better soon

Potentially a dust or dust mite allergy. Try sprinkling baking soda on his mattress leave for 30 minutes then hoover it off. And put on fresh bed sheets. Have you change washing detergent or anything like that recently?
Finally his eyes could just be as said and may be conjunctivitis.
