Glucose Test

I went for a 32 week growth scan today because my previous baby was small at birth. Whilst baby’s growth looked fine, my fluid levels were measuring a bit high so they’ve booked me in for a glucose test next week. I feel quite anxious about it because I’ve heard the drink can make you feel really sick. I’m quite a nauseous person anyway - like I’m worried about how I’m going to manage the car sickness in the drive over to the hospital/ when having my blood taken if I haven’t eaten or drank something other than water in 10 hours.

Does anyone have any tips for keeping the drink down for the 2 hours? I’m already planning on bringing some ice water and a handheld fan

Hi! I had it last week. I found it honestly not that bad. They give you a glass of water after to wash it down but you can take your time drinking it. It's not an enjoyable drink, but it also isn't absolutely horrific so hopefully you find the same thing, good luck :-)

It wasnt as bad as people made out. My hospital had an apple flavour and it was just like a wee tin of appletiser/britvic apple. I am awful with blood tests but it was honestly okay. I brought my mum with me lol bring someone if you can! And maybe headphones so you can focus on a podcast or some music?

I actually quite enjoyed the drink 😂 the harder part was being hungry so just took something to distract me.

My drink tasted like the sweetie nerds 🤣. Found it plesant. Was a normal size glass aswell so nothing overwhelming.

Mine wasn't as bad as I thought it might be either - I was given raspberry flavour which was quite nice 😅 and took a book to keep me distracted for the two hours. Had some snacks in my bag too for immediately after!

My drink was absolutely fine, nurse said that it was changed in recent years. My test was done for the same reason, fluid levels and thankfully negative so I hope the same for you 🫶🏽 Had a scan just last week and levels were normal again so not something that will stay. I had biscuits at 10.30pm to get me through 😂 xx

First timer

Hey everyone. I’m in my 30s, abroad in Germany, just got married, and 9 weeks pregnant with my first.

Honestly this first trimester has been a lot for me. Early scares, anxiety through the roof, barely eating, doing most of it solo while my husband is on missions or emotionally unavailable. Finally got a strong heartbeat confirmed last week 😮‍💨

Just looking for my people. Other first time moms, military moms, anyone who’s navigating the reality of pregnancy abroad.

Pregnant… baby no2

I’ve just took a test and it’s a clear as day plus!!! My baby is 8 months old🥹 couldn’t stop crying when I took it! Makes so much sense now but really need a sit down with my partner and also to know I’m not alone. My sister in law is pregnant with baby no2 and the age gap will be about 18 months. Waiting to take a digital test too. Just feel weird🥹

Pregnancy pillows

Hello, can anyone recommend a good pregnancy pillow? It’s one to lie back on when I’m in bed. I’m so sick of all the big pillows I have in bed that take ages to set up and are not comfy x

Pelvic Pain

I started having really bad pelvic pain that wouldn’t go away at 3:00 am this morning so we decided to head to labor and delivery. They tested me for a yeast infection and UTI, but all came back normal. They did a cervix check and said I’m dilated to a 1 but said to just watch and keep an eye on it and if I get contractions that keep coming to come back in. I’m still having some pelvic pressure tho and I hope it goes away soon. I had my first child at 34 weeks due to preeclampsia and I’m currently 34 weeks so I’m starting to get nervous! Let hope she stays in longer!
