Hey everyone so my partner smokes. Which is annoying lol. And he is 42. And I am 32 and we are going to try for a baby soon. But I have read some things about smoking and sperm? That it increases some risks. I am terrified incase it causes something bad? Or misscarriage etc.
has anybody any advice or had healthy pregnancy’s with their partner smoking? And no problems

My partner was a heavy smoker the first time I got pregnant. I don't think he was smoking cigarettes the second time, but he was vaping, and smoking weed semi-regularly. Both my pregnancies and babies were very healthy ❤️

I fell pregnant on holiday (after 10+ Years of infertility) where both me and my partner were smoking. Very healthy pregnancy and very healthy baby. She’s 18 months and thriving.
I actually quit cold turkey the day we came back from holiday and got a positive test 13 days later

I think most agree that of course smoking is bad and that he should quit for your future child's sake as second and third-hand smoking appear via him smoking outside near you or the smoke on his clothes and hands.
It can damage the sperm DNA and carry over to the embryo and the percentages obviously look scary but what people need to know is that they do not really do any studies or registry of complications related to paternal smoking. The 15% and 20% you may have seen are related to "15% more likely to get conplications" rather than "15% will get complications". You will most likely have a healthy baby.
Most are born healthy but I still would of course recommend your partner to stop or at least decrease his smoking.
Good luck with everything ❤️

Other than the sperm being of low quality due to bad habits like smoking and drinking abd drugs .. on their own usually they don't affect the kid as such. But ofcourse better not to be doing any of these things.
