Trying for Baby No 2

We have an 18m old with our last 2 frozen embryos in storage and think we have decided to try again.

We were a long time TTC and our first baby was via our 3rd transfer so I was trying lots of different things, acupuncture, no caffeine/alcohol/perfume, eco friendly brands, drinking bone broth etc!

Our doctor has suggested the same meds which is natural cycle plus progesterone, but with a toddler on the run I don’t know if I’ve got the headspace or energy to do all the “extra stuff” and if any of that helped anyway?

I feel more relaxed this time but also want to give it the best shot so feel like I need to prepare.

Anyone else been in a similar position?

Also looking at trying again with our two frozen embryos soon. Our little girl will be 3 in September and was a fresh transfer. Never done a frozen transfer before so here for all the tips…!

Hey I am in the same boat although I only have 1 embryo in storage and if it doesn’t work that’s it, I am 45 and won’t do more IVF. My Son from the same round is 21 months. I barely started to make it to the gym and eat healthy ish since last month. I was so strict when I was trying for him. No toxic products a load of vitamins organic food ect ect. I think that is more important for egg quality than conception?? I did also have acupuncture. I just don’t know what is the most important for conception there seems to be no info on it. I need to have a procedure first because my cesarean scar didn’t heal well. So I have a few months and would love to know what people think is the most important. Good luck to you 🤞🏻

I think there is a lot to be said about trying to be relaxed and trying to be as happy as you can be (in what is a crappy process). In my first round especially I cut out so much, even alcohol free drinks just in case and stopped going to the gym. I was stressed and very anxious. My second round I was a bit more relaxed but still anxious and restrictive. I gave up on running for a long time and felt very low as a result.

The best results I had was where I was training for an Ironman triathlon and didn’t give up on coffee, just limited it to two a day.

It’s such a horrendous and gruelling process to go through that anything I think that can make life a bit nicer I’m going with. For this frozen transfer I had a few drinks in the weeks leading up to transfer, kept exercising and am keeping my 2 x coffee a day!

So I’d say mental state of mind plus exercise plus I’ve been taking omega 3 capsules, Coq10 and pregnancy vitamins for a few months and did this last time too.

Oh plus getting your progesterone tested! I had early bleeding on both fresh transfers (NHS) and they wouldn’t test my progesterone and very reluctantly gave me 1 x Lubion a day for round 2.

Going privately they tested my progesterone before transfer and it was low so I’m now on 3 x cyclogest and 2 x Lubion a day.

Hypothetically...baby one conceived naturally, would you go through IVF for number 2 ???

1st baby took 9 months to conceive but we've been trying for number 2 for a few months. Know it can take up to a year. Just wondered if anyone would put their body's through IVF to have a 2nd baby, plus the thousands of £££ of cost as NHS wouldn't cover
